Another new professional gain for the Continuum team
Welcoming Ian OโDowd DipPFS, Independent Financial Adviser, South Devon
Seasoned Independent Financial Adviser Ian OโDowd is the latest professional to join the team of award-winning national advisory firm, Continuum.
Ian has 17 yearsโ experience in the financial services sector, and has spent the last 12 of them as an adviser. He has built an enviable reputation and a growing clientele in his native South Devon region, and the move will see him developing his extensive financial services experience still further with the extra support and facilities of the award-winning Continuum team.
Ian will be based on our Plymouth head office. But what are his reasons for joining Continuum?
โI joined Continuum because I wanted to work with a company that was reputable, totally independent and that had financial strength to help me look after my clients going forward.
The ethics and values that Continuum operates to are market leading and this was really important to me โ because it will help ensure that I can provide an even better service for my clients.โ
Ian specialises in advising on investments, pensions and protection for individuals and families. However, although working with people as individuals is a key feature of his work, he also has a very keen interest in working with businesses.
โI believe that it is important to ensure that business owners have their businesses fully protected with the insurance products that they need. But there is rather more to this side of my service. Helping businesses with employee benefits is of course vital, but relatively straightforward. Helping business owners make tax efficient decisions when it comes to their own personal arrangements as well as accumulated funds within the business is a challenge โ and one that I can bring a wealth of experience to deal with.โ
Ian believes that having the support of Continuum will mean that he can make his skills and experience work even harder for clients.
As he explains โI have been providing local, face to face and above all independent, financial planning service in the South Devon area for several years. Of course, I will continue to do so โ but being part of the Continuum team will mean that some of the background work will be taken care of โ which ultimately means that I will have more time to help more people.โ
In his spare time Ian is a husband, father to two boys and a Firefighter for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. He explains that this is a really important part of his approach to life, as it is a way of giving something vital back to his local community.
Martin Brown, Continuumโs Managing Partner welcomed Ian to the Continuum team. โWe are always pleased when a new team member joins us, and especially so when they have an approach so closely aligned to our own. Ian has stated that he believes in putting his clients firmly at the heart of everything he does, and that providing advice must start with fully understanding clients present and future objectives and circumstances.
It is a belief that we share at Continuum.โ
Ian sums up his feelings about his move to the Continuum team. โContinuum is an award-winning business, and their success is based both of real independence and on a determination to provide the best results for clients. It is a determination that echoes my own approach, and the support they provide for me as an adviser โ and for my clients โ is fantastic.
With Continuum I am a member of a pioneering company that has the clientโs interest at the centre of everything they do.โ
