A new member of the Continuum team

“I bring my clients on a journey to financial understanding.”

Award-winning financial advisory firm Continuum has welcomed a new Financial Adviser to its team.
Continuum covers the UK and provides solutions for all types of financial planning needs – but new Advisor James Barber will serve clients in London and Essex.

What brings him to Continuum – and what will he bring to clients?

“I like to bring my clients on a journey to financial understanding – helping them build the knowledge to make the right decisions about their financial future, as well as giving them the strategies and products they need.

In a world where transparency is everything, I enjoy bringing my clients on a journey of understanding what they already have and how this may fit in with their goals, breaking this down in a clear, concise and engaging format.”

“Getting your finances in order is often something that can easily be put on the back burner, maybe due to the swarms of complicated paperwork received each year, complicated jargon or perhaps even being afraid of the unknown. Building financial understanding can help beat the fears and get clients on the right route for their financial goals.”

So how does he go about taking people on this journey of discovery?

“It starts with building my own understanding of their current financial position, and the position they want to be in – be that in five years, ten or twenty or more.

So, my work really begins with working closely with individuals and business owners to determine what is really important to them and help to bring their financial aspirations to life, whether that’s accumulating wealth, planning for that dream retirement or ensuring that their families are looked after should the worst ever happen. “

“I take a personal approach – I’m dealing with people, all individuals, and all deserving respect and service they can rely on. Throughout my career I have always prided myself on working in a manner that I would wish my family and friends to be treated should they engage with the industry, with integrity central to my proposition.”

Outside of work James is an avid golfer – although he claims to have a very rollercoaster relationship with the sport, which he is sure most golfers can agree with and enjoys spending time with his young family.

So why did James make the decision to join the Continuum team?

“It’s good to work with the best, and to aim high. Continuum is a Top 50 National Financial Advisory business, but more important, it is a partnership of like-minded Financial Advisers sharing a common passion, approach and commitment. They are highly professional and above all, independent.”

“So I wanted to join Continuum for a number of reasons – but mostly because it puts me under no pressure to push the products of a particular supplier. I can select the most appropriate products for the needs of each client.”

Continuum has administrative and compliance teams, an online portal, and weekly education information. It means having the support to take care of some of the routine tasks, giving me more time to focus on relationships with clients.

Welcoming James to the team

Continuum’s Managing Partner Martin Brown is pleased to have James joining the team.

“We are determined to provide the very best in financial advice, and that means building a team made up of people with the right approach, the right experience – and a determination to put the needs of their clients first.

James has spent several years building his skills and experience, and now his enthusiasm for building on that sound foundation to work is an asset for us and for our clients.

He believes in taking clients on a journey of financial discovery – and at Continuum, so do we.”

James is based in Chelmsford, but if you live or work anywhere in or around London or Essex, and have questions about your financial plans and prospects, please contact him for a free initial consultation.
